Two charred bodies were found in the rubble of a Santa Ana shopping center today where a massive early morning explosion and fire leveled an auto parts store and three adjoining shops, authorities said.
“From their condition, there is no way to determine age, sex (or) cause of death,” Sharon Frank, a Santa Ana Fire Department spokesperson said. Investigators were searching the debris, trying to determine the cause of the blast, which left only one wall standing at Today Auto Parts and Today Stereo, and an adjacent book store, hair salon and dry cleaners at 638 S. Harbor Blvd. A dental office also was partially damaged by the 1:38 a.m. explosion and fire, which was battled by 45 firefighters for 90 minutes.
