NCAA Women’s Tennis : SDSU and USIU Eliminated in First Round of Tournament

The San Diego State and United States International University women’s tennis teams both lost in the first round of the 16-team, single-elimination NCAA tournament Thursday in Austin, Tex.
The Aztecs were seeded sixth but were upset by 11th-seed Oklahoma State, 6-3. Oklahoma State’s Renata Baranski beat SDSU’s Cynthia MacGregor, 6-2, 6-3, in No.1 singles. The Aztecs finished the season at 14-11.
Ronni Reis defeated USIU’s No.1 player, Kefi Binyamini, 7-5, 6-4, as fifth-seeded Miami easily beat the Gulls, 8-1. USIU finished at 14-14.
Miami advances to play California, and Oklahoma State plays Trinity College of Texas in the quarterfinals.
