Irvine’s Hamelin Is South Coast MVP

Irvine High School first baseman Bob Hamelin, who batted .514, hit 9 home runs and drove in 38 runs, was named the Player of the Year in the South Coast League in a vote of the league’s coaches.
Irvine won its first league title in the school’s 10-year history, and placed four players on the first team. The Vaqueros’ top pitcher, Brian Snoody, was selected, along with outfielder Mike Moceri and freshman infielder Terry Rahmatulla.
