A man stopped on suspicion of drunken driving on Interstate 5 in Oceanside on Friday night bolted away from a California Highway Patrolman and onto the busy freeway, where he was killed after being struck by several cars, the CHP reported.
David Conrad, 36, of Fallbrook, had been pulled over just south of Mission Avenue about 8:45 p.m. and was being questioned by the CHP. He started a scuffle with a patrolman and then attempted to run across the freeway. He was hit by five or six vehicles, the CHP said.
