Tulare County Sheriff Bob Wiley renounced the reelection endorsement given him by the Ku Klux Klan, saying he did not ask for it. The organization’s national publication, the Klansman, carried a back-page article praising Wiley for helping the Klan increase its Tulare-area membership and saying he “continues to show the Invisible Empire where he stands with over 70% Mexican inmates in the county jail and with only a small percentage of whites.” Wiley said: “I never solicited their support nor will I accept it. They are obviously doing this to hurt me.”
