French and Egyptian Forces on Maneuvers

CAIRO — Egyptian armed forces have been holding joint air and sea maneuvers with French forces in the Red Sea area, the semiofficial daily newspaper Al Ahram reported Sunday.
French and Egyptian naval vessels and several types of aircraft took part, the paper said.
It did not say when the exercise, not previously announced, was launched.
The Egyptian air force flies French-made Mirage 5 and Mirage 2000 jet fighters as well as the Gazelle helicopter.
