Bass Leads Hanshin Past Hiroshima, 9-0

TOKYO — Randy Bass, formerly with the Texas Rangers, drove in two runs as the Hanshin Tigers shut out the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, 9-0, in Japanese League baseball Sunday.
The Yomiuri Giants trounced the Yakult Swallows, 17-1, on 19 hits, including a two-run home run by Warren Cromartie, formerly with the Montreal Expos. Cromartie has eight home runs this season.
The Hankyu Braves downed the Nippon Ham Fighters, 5-2, on a three-run home run by Greg Wells, formerly with the Minnesota Twins.
