Sugihara Wins by 2 in Japanese Golf

SENDAI, Japan — Veteran Teruo Sugihara scored his 50th career victory Sunday, winning the $235,300 Tohoku Classic Golf Tournament by two strokes.
Sugihara, who will be 49 on Saturday, shot a 71 for a total of 280, eight-under par.
The victory was worth $42,350 for Sugihara, who became the first Japanese male pro to post 50 victories.
Japan’s Namio Takasu fired a 70 for a 282 and came in second.
Australian Graham Marsh and Isao Aoki of Japan shared third place at 283. Marsh shot a 72 and Aoki a 70 Sunday over the 7,033-yard, par-72 layout of the Nishi Sendai Country Club.
