Torrance : Singer to Begin Jail Term
Vincent Neil Wharton, lead singer for the heavy-metal rock band Motley Crue, was ordered to begin a 30-day jail sentence July 14 in Gardena by Torrance Superior Court Judge Cecil J. Mills.
Last July, the 25-year-old singer pleaded guilty to drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter, eight months after the car he was driving went out of control on the Esplanade in Redondo Beach, killing his passenger and seriously injuring two people in another car.
An earlier judge ordered Wharton to pay $2.6 million to the two injured victims and to the estate of the third, and to perform 200 hours of community service. Wharton, who uses the stage name Vince Neil, was also placed on five years probation.
