Arthur Walker Verdict Upheld

RICHMOND, Va. — The U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the espionage conviction and sentence of Arthur Walker today, dismissing defense claims that prosecutors failed to prove the Soviets received documents he passed to his spymaster brother.
Walker, a retired Navy officer from Virginia Beach, was convicted last year of seven counts of espionage for his role in a spy ring headed by his flamboyant brother, John Walker Jr., also a Navy veteran. Arthur Walker was sentenced to three life terms plus 40 years in prison and will be eligible for parole after serving 10 years.
