The horse-race-fixing trial in Miami for a convicted extortionist and reputed Mafia figure ended in a mistrial because one of the government’s key witnesses is in the hospital, a court spokesman said.
Anthony Acceturo, 47, faces 25 years in prison if convicted on charges that he collected $500,000 from fixing races at Calder Race Course by spiking horses’ water with drugs.
