Bell-Jeff Basketball Tournament Attracts Top High School Teams

Many of the CIF Southern Section’s top girls basketball teams will compete in the Bell-Jeff Summer Hoop Finale starting Friday at Bellarmine-Jefferson High School in Burbank.
Lynwood, the defending 4-A champion and winner of the L. A. Games, is part of a 16-team field that includes Muir, which won the tournament last year, Louisville, Alemany, Morningside and Fontana.
The tournament features many of the top players in Southern California, including Trisi Jackson of Lynwood, Tasha Bradley (Muir), Andrea Knapp and Lynn Flanagan (Louisville), Jennifer Kroll and Jenny Beubis (Alemany), Shaundra Greene and Tia Thomas (Morningside) and Andrea Kabwasa of Hawthorne.
Friday’s first-round matchups include: Lynwood vs. L. A. Lutheran at 10 a.m.; Morningside vs. Burbank at 11:30; Hawthorne vs. Pasadena at 1 p.m.; Norco vs. Alemany at 2:30; Fontana vs. Bell-Jeff at 4; Louisville vs. Eagle Rock at 5:30; Thousand Oaks vs. Burroughs at 7; Muir vs. Notre Dame at 8:30.
The tourney continues Saturday, Monday and Wednesday.
