Jennifer Kroll and Jenny Beubis led Alemany High to a 49-47 upset win over second-seeded Muir in the quarterfinals of the Bell-Jeff Summer Hoop Finale at Bell-Jeff Saturday night.
Kroll scored a game-high 17 points and Beubis added 13 for Alemany.
Muir, which led for most of the game, fell behind when point guard Angie Grant fouled out with six minutes remaining in the game. All-CIF forward Tasha Bradley of Muir was forced to take over the ball handling responsibilities and the Alemany defense took advantage of her, forcing several turnovers and surging into the lead with three minutes left in the game.
Grant led Muir with 14 points while Bradley scored 10.
Alemany will meet third-seeded Morningside, a 58-55 victor over Fontana, in the semifinals Monday night at 8:30.
In another quarterfinal game, Lynn Flanagan led Louisville to a 79-62 victory over Hawthorne. Flanagan started the game at point guard but only scored 6 points in the first half. In the second half she played on the wing and scored 22 points, giving her a game-high 28. Center Andre Knapp and Tina Kohler added 14 and 13 points, respectively, for Louisville.
Louisville will play No. 1 seed Lynwood in the first semifinal game Monday at 7 p.m. Lynwood defeated Thousand Oaks, 59-49, on Friday.
