Local News in Brief : Legal Services Agency Picks Edward Kussman

The San Fernando Valley Neighborhood Legal Services board of directors has elected Edward L. Kussman, a longtime Valley civil rights leader, its president.
Kussman is a past president of the San Fernando Valley Chapter of the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People and the San Fernando Valley Fair Housing Council. He is vice chairman of the Metropolitan Water District board of directors.
Neighborhood Legal Services is financed by the federal government, the State Bar Trust and the City of Los Angeles to provide free legal aid to the poor.
Other officers elected at the organization’s July meeting were Jose Velasco, vice president; Angela Rose White, secretary; and Thomas Trent Lewis, treasurer.
