A 32-year-old Portland, Ore., man has been arrested in connection with a July 29 fire that burned 110 acres in the Angeles National Forest above La Canada Flintridge and forced the evacuation of 65 people from a day camp, authorities said. David McCarthy, who apparently had been living at the Valley Forge Campground, was seen in the area shortly before the fire broke out, said Bob Brady, a public information officer for the U.S. Forest Service. Authorities would not say how the fire started or whether it was intentional. The campground is about two miles northwest of Mt. Wilson. McCarthy is being held on $5,000 bail at Los Angeles County Jail.
