Orange : 5 Intruders Take 2 Hostages, Then Give Up

Five males, including two juveniles, broke into a house Tuesday afternoon and held two people hostage for an hour before police coaxed them out peacefully, a police spokesman said.
Police Detective Robert Gustafson said the five, who were not identified pending further investigation, broke into the home in the 1200 block of West Walnut Avenue about 1:30 p.m., apparently bent on robbery. But a teen-age boy, who was in the rear of the house, escaped and called police.
“They never saw the juvenile who escaped,” Gustafson said.
The detective said the intruders, who were carrying three pistols, bound a woman and her son and held them hostage for an hour until police talked them into surrendering.
