PEKING — Floods caused by heavy rains have killed 30 people and inundated more than 1,500 villages in the northeast China province of Liaoning, the official China Daily reported Wednesday.
The English-language newspaper said the rains washed out 350 river dikes and destroyed 86 bridges along the Aihe, Taizhi and Liaohe rivers.
Flooding has also hit Jilin province to the north, where the state-run press reported earlier that almost 2.5 million acres of farmland were inundated.
