Hearing on Sewer Plan Scheduled

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES — The City Council agreed that the installation of sanitary sewers in the Harbor Sight and Spinning Wheel neighborhoods is necessary as a health measure.
The council set Oct. 14 for a public hearing to determine whether the 75 properties affected will form an assessment district to pay for the sewers, which are estimated to cost $1.1 million.
According to City Manager Raymond Taylor, if more than half of the residents protest, an assessment district would not be formed unless four members of the city’s five-member council vote to override the residents’ objections.
