More Than Injuries Were Responsible for the Dodgers’ Decline

That’s more like it. I took my son and a couple of his friends to the Dodger game the other day. They lost to the Phillies, 2-1, on an error in the ninth. Another stellar performance by Bob Welch went down the drain.
But the very mediocrity of the teams contributed to what I thought was the major delight of the day. The stands were practically empty; a mere 23,000 showed up for this midweek day game. Getting food took only a few minutes instead of a few innings. Getting in and out of the parking lot was a breeze.
It was my most enjoyable game of the past several seasons. Up with mediocrity!
