4 Legislators Subpoenaed in Young’s Case

Four state legislators have been subpoenaed to testify for the defense in the trial of former Assemblyman Bruce Young on charges stemming from alleged political corruption, Young’s attorney said Friday.
The lawyer, Donald Heller, said Thursday that he will seek testimony from a number of legislators to show that what Young is accused of doing is common practice among politicians and not illegal.
Subpoenaed on Thursday were Senate President Pro Tem David Roberti (D-Los Angeles) and state Sens. Milton Marks (D-San Francisco), H. L. Richardson (R-Glendora) and John Seymour (R-Anaheim).
Young, now a lobbyist, pleaded innocent Monday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles to 28 counts of mail fraud.
He is accused of laundering campaign contributions and concealing income that he received from businessman W. Patrick Moriarty and from Falcon Communications, a cable television company.
