Arthur Seitz, a free-lance photographer from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., testified in Riverhead, N.Y., that security guards stood by as he was assaulted by tennis champion Martina Navratilova and her friend, basketball star Nancy Lieberman, at the 1982 U.S. Open.
Seitz’s testimony came in the second day of a state Supreme Court trial in the $2 million lawsuit Seitz filed against Navratilova. The trial also encompasses a $4.5 million countersuit by Navratilova.
Seitz said that after taking Navratilova’s picture he saw her break away from her entourage and sprint toward him. “She slammed her left arm into my left arm and into the ribs on my left side,” Seitz, 44, said of Navratilova, 29.
