Su Casa Building Donation

The City Council has unanimously approved a request for $5,000 by the Su Casa Family Crisis and Support Center to help build a larger facility.
Officials from Su Casa, a shelter program for battered women and their children, say they have requested $5,000 from each city in their 10-city service area including Artesia, Lakewood, Long Beach, Hawaiian Gardens, Norwalk and Cerritos, which was the first city to provide funding.
According to Christine Hach, executive director of the center, $300,000 is needed to build a larger facility. “Between our fund-raising activities and city contributions, we are almost two-thirds of the way there,” she said. “But we still need that extra help.”
