Bail was denied by a U.S. magistrate in San Diego for Mario Martinez Herrera, 37, a Mexican law enforcement official indicted for perjury before a federal grand jury investigating the torture-slaying of American narcotics agent Enrique Camarena in the Guadalajara area last year. U.S. authorities believe Martinez was present when Camarena was slain by drug traffickers.
