Former Florida state Rep. Steve Pajcic and former Tampa Mayor Bob Martinez won their party’s gubernatorial nominations in separate runoffs, setting up a November showdown to succeed Democratic Gov. Bob Graham, who is challenging Republican incumbent Sen. Paula Hawkins. Pajcic defeated Atty. Gen. Jim Smith to win the Democratic nomination, and Martinez, a one-time Democrat, easily defeated former Rep. Lou Frey in the GOP runoff.
