San Diego Volleyball : Aztec Women Defeat UC Irvine

No. 1-ranked San Diego State defeated UC Irvine (1-5, 7-14) at Irvine Tuesday, 15-5, 15-6, 15-5, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. match.

The Aztecs (5-1. 24-1) lost their first match of the season Saturday to the University of the Pacific after winning 23 straight. Setter Liane Sato, injured in a match last week, underwent arthroscopic surgery Tuesday to repair torn ligaments and cartilage in her right knee. Coach Rudy Suwara said she should be ready to return in two to three weeks.

At Point Loma, Cal Lutheran (2-3, 4-3) rallied to defeat Point Loma Nazarene (1-2, 12-9), 6-15, 9-15, 15-9, 15-10, 15-5 in a Golden State Athletic Conference match.
