Baseball made its first appearance in the Soviet Union. But even before the first inning was over, the verdict among about 200 Soviets who turned out for the exhibition was that baseball was “boring . . . incomprehensible . . . not interesting.”
A sparse crowd shivered in the bleachers as the great American pastime had its semi-official premier at an exhibition game between two Latin American teams from Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow.
