The Los Angeles City Council gave tentative approval to construction of the six-story Sunset Boulevard headquarters of the Directors Guild of America. The council’s 10-3 vote included a development agreement that exempts the structure from Proposition U, the slow-growth Los Angeles initiative that if passed in November would cut commercial construction in half in most of the city. A final vote will be taken next week.
