Chris Evert Lloyd, ranked second in the world and winner of more Wightman Cup matches than any other U.S. player, was forced to withdraw from this year’s competition because of a knee injury.
The United States Tennis Assn. said that Lloyd would be replaced on the American team by Stephanie Rehe of Highland, Calif.
Rehe, ranked 13th in the world, joins Bonnie Gadusek, Kathy Rinaldi, Anne White and Elise Burgin on the American team that will face Britain in the Wightman Cup matches Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at Royal Albert Hall in London.
