Lawyers for the University of Maryland and basketball Coach Charles (Lefty) Driesell are negotiating an end to Driesell’s 17-year coaching career at the school, the Baltimore Sun reported.
Under the agreement, according to the Sun, Driesell will voluntarily give up his job in exchange for a financial settlement. Sources told the newspaper that Driesell may step down as early as this week.
Driesell has been under pressure in the athletic department turmoil that followed the cocaine-induced death of All-American Len Bias in June.
