Detroit-based GM Hughes Electronics Corp. posted an improvement in the third quarter and a significant upturn for the first nine months of 1986 over the same periods last year. For the quarter, sales increased at Hughes Aircraft Co. Sales, however, declined slightly at Delco Electronics Corp. due to lower production rates of General Motors’ vehicles, which was only partially offset by increased electronic content per vehicle. For the nine-month period, both Hughes and Delco Electronics recorded increased sales and earnings.
