Borden Inc. said its third-quarter profit rose by 15.3% to the highest total of any quarter in its history. Eugene J. Sullivan, chairman and chief executive, said all four of the company’s divisions contributed to the quarterly improvement. Borden’s worldwide chemical division earnings increased by 68%; its snacks and international consumer products division was up 37%; its grocery and specialty division increased 35%, and its dairy division was up by 12%, Sullivan said.
