Boston Red Sox pitcher Roger Clemens, angry about the behavior of fans, security guards and the wives of Mets’ players during World Series games at Shea Stadium, said he won’t return there for an exhibition game that has been scheduled for next season.

The security guards and the wives of Mets’ players verbally abused the wives of Red Sox players, Clemens said.

“If the security guards do that, what are the fans going to do?” Clemens said after receiving the Seagram Sports Award as the 1986 player of the year. “The morning before the seventh game, I had to take my wife to the airport because it’s too dangerous for her to sit there and watch the ballgame because people are throwing firecrackers.
