In “A Woman of Substance,” Emma Harte (Deborah Kerr) built her department store empire. In the sequel airing on KCOP Channel 13 this week, she passes it on to her granddaughter Paula, telling her, “I charge you to hold my dream.”
“Hold the Dream” is the second in a trilogy of novels about the fictional Harte family by Barbara Taylor Bradford. The Operation Prime Time production, adapted for the screen by Bradford, airs in two parts, Tuesday at 8 p.m. and Nov. 11 at 8 p.m.
Jenny Seagrove, who played Emma as a young woman in “A Woman of Substance,” returns here as Paula. Unlike the rags-to-riches story of the first miniseries, this one centers on Paula’s problems in balancing the demands of her business life with those of her husband and twin daughters.
Also in the cast are Stephen Collins, James Brolin, Claire Bloom, Fiona Fullerton and John Mills.
