San Francisco Wins USIU Soccer Event

SAN DIEGO — The University of San Francisco was declared the champion of the United States International University Classic XII Soccer Tournament despite tying USIU, 0-0, Sunday.
Eighth-ranked USF (15-2-4) finished the three-team round-robin tournament with a 1-0-1 record to earn the championship. USIU (6-3-3) had a 0-0-2 record and Washington was 0-1-1.
Washington’s Eric Guise was named the offensive most valuable player and USF’s John Doyle was the defensive MVP. USIU’s Gary Botha, Jon Sissons and Andy Walker were named to the all-tournament team.
