Pakistan has produced bomb-grade uranium, and it detonated an explosive device last month as it continues work on developing a nuclear weapon, the Washington Post reported. The paper quoted unidentified sources and a classified Defense Intelligence Agency report. However, officials in India said the United States wrongly interpreted an earthquake as a nuclear test blast by Pakistan. Asked about the reports, a State Department spokesman said the United States has warned Pakistan that its effort to build a nuclear bomb would have “serious consequences,” including the elimination of U.S. aid.
