UCI Beats Long Beach in Water Polo

Tom Warde scored three goals to help UC Irvine to a 10-9 Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. water polo victory over Cal State Long Beach Tuesday at Heritage Park in Irvine.

Irvine is 8-1, 15-10. It was the Anteaters’ third consecutive victory and fifth in six matches. Warde, a sophomore, leads the team with 52 goals.

UCI, ranked sixth nationally, held a 6-5 lead at halftime and stretched that to 10-7 midway through the fourth quarter. Irvine plays the University of the Pacific Thursday at Heritage Park at 7 p.m.
