A South Korean fishing boat captain was ordered held without bail in Anchorage on charges he assaulted a female observer with the National Marine Fisheries Service on the high seas. “Pretrial detention is an outrageous overstepping on the part of the government,” said Dan Dennis, attorney for the defendant, Lee Jung Silk, 34. The captain is accused of sexually harassing the U.S. observer from Oct. 20 to Oct. 27 and refusing to allow her to use her radio to call for help. The Coast Guard seized the vessel a week ago on charges of fishing in the U.S. 200-mile zone.
