Police sought public help Friday in the murder of a 19-year-old West Los Angeles Community College student who was found stabbed to death near a Baldwin Hills construction site, miles from her Florence District home.
The body of Karen Spencer was found in a trench in the 4400 block of Don Ricardo Drive Thursday morning. Her murder has not been included among the 17 or more slayings being investigated by a special task force formed to hunt the Southside Serial Killer or killers.
Southwest Division Detective Richard Marks said Miss Spencer’s boyfriend accompanied her home aboard a Southern California Rapid Transit District bus around 8 p.m. Wednesday, then left on another bus. He said the victim did not have a car, and it is not known how she got to the Baldwin Hills area.
Anyone with knowledge of Miss Spencer’s movements were asked to telephone police at 485-2196 weekdays and 485-2504 nights and weekends.
