DISASTER FILMS

In his review of “Tai-Pan,” Kevin Thomas correctly identified the many credits in the film’s favor, but failed to mention the one overwhelming credit against it: A Dino De Laurentiis Production.
Does anybody really expect quality from the man who brought us such multimillion-dollar, artistic and commercial disasters as “Dune,” “Flash Gordon,” “Hurricane,” “Orca,” “The Bounty,” “King Kong” and now “Tai-Pan”?
Doesn’t his upcoming sequel to “Kong” smell like another nasty leak from Dino’s toxic-waste factory? Is there a way to stop this man sanely, or will nuclear weapons be necessary?
