A 24-year-old Pacific Beach man was killed early Saturday after he stepped off the center median of West Mission Bay Drive and was struck by a car.
He died several hours later while undergoing surgery for massive internal injuries at UC San Diego Medical Center, according to the San Diego County coroner’s office.
A spokeswoman said Mikel Frank Hoffmann, an employee of a computer firm, was crossing the street near the Bahia Hotel when he was struck by a car driven by Ellen Perrett of Ocean Front Walk. Perrett was not cited.
The coroner’s office spokeswoman said that toxicological tests are being made to determine whether Hoffman was intoxicated.
