One hundred students protesting CIA recruitment at the University of Massachusetts occupied a building housing the school’s public relations department for six hours before policemen arrested 59 people, including 1960s activist Abbie Hoffman and Amy Carter, daughter of former President Jimmy Carter, officials in Amherst said. Carter, a 19-year-old junior at Brown University in Providence, R. I., was arrested on a charge of obstructing lawful arrest, school officials said.
