Bedside Promise Sprints to Win at Hollywod Park

Bedside Promise took the lead in the stretch Friday and went on to win Hollywood Park’s $169,000 National Sprint Championship before 22,731 fans.
Ridden by Gary Stevens, Bedside Promise beat Bolder Than Bold by 1 3/4 lengths. Favored Pine Tree Lane finished third, 3 1/2 lengths farther back.
Bedside Promise ran the six furlongs in 1:08 2/5, just one-fifth of a second off the track record set by Melair May 18.
The winner returned $9.20, $4.60 and $3; Bolder Than Bold, with Gary Baze riding, paid $5.60 and $3.20, and Pine Tree Lane returned $3.
