Boys’ Roundup : Bryan Leads Woodbridge to 58-45 Win

Forward Vince Bryan scored a game-high 26 points and had 9 rebounds Friday night to lead Woodbridge High School to a 58-45 victory over Sunny Hills in a semifinal game of the Sunny Hills-Sonora Tournament at Sunny Hills.
Center Adam Keith added 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Warriors (3-0), who overcame a 28-27 halftime deficit by holding the Lancers (4-3) to only 7 points in the third quarter.
Guard David Chisum led Sunny Hills with 14 points. Woodbridge will play Katella for the tournament championship tonight at 8 at Sunny Hills. Sunny Hills will play Sonora for third place at 6:30.
In other Sunny Hills-Sonora Tournament games:
Katella 67, Sonora 33--The Knights (7-0) took a 36-9 halftime lead and easily defeated the Raiders in a semifinal game at Sonora.
Center Richard Lucas, who played a little more than a half, led Katella with 21 points. Teammate John Sunu added 10.
Magnolia 45, Savanna 40--Senior forwards Mike Lyon and Mike Goff scored 15 points each for the Sentinels (4-1) in the consolation semifinal game.
Brea-Olinda 72, Capistrano Valley “B” 63--Ron Thomas scored 23 points and Gary Chiotti added 20 to lead the Wildcats, who play Magnolia for the consolation title today at 4:45. Bill Barden led the Cougar “B” team with 18.
Irvine 54, La Habra 38--Mike Herring scored 17 points to lead the Vaqueros. Ed Perez led the Highlanders with 11. Irvine will play the Capistrano Valley varsity for fifth place today at 3:15.
Capistrano Valley 76, Orange 64--Scott McCullough scored 21 points and Todd Kostoff added 17 as the Cougars (4-1) eliminated the Panthers.
Orange, which got 21 points from Dan Adams and 16 from Jeff Smith, led, 27-19, at the end of the first quarter but were outscored, 21-10, in the second quarter.
In the Santa Maria Tournament:
Kennedy 67, Cabrillo 38--Jeff Howell scored 15 points and Wendell Lauderdale added 14 to lead the Fighting Irish (4-2) in a semifinal game. Kennedy plays Santa Barbara for the tournament championship tonight at 8:30. Michael Keith added 12 points and 8 rebounds for Kennedy, which held Cabrillo to 13 points in the first half.
Santa Barbara 63, Edison 58--Mike Craven had 18 points to lead the Dons (5-0) past the Chargers (1-3) in a semfinal game. Edison’s Mike Henderson led all scorers with 20 points. Edison plays Cabrillo for third place tonight at 5:30.
Dana Hills 81, Righetti “B” 35--The Dolphins routed the Warrior “B” team in a consolation semifinal game at Hancock College in Santa Maria.
Dave Cmelak of Dana Hills (2-4) led all scorers with 22 points. Brendhan Quinn added 11 points and Tim McSweeney scored 10 for the Dolphins.
In the Riverside Notre Dame Tournament:
Newport Christian 35, Southern California Christian 32--Wayne Everett and Jon Bahnsen scored 12 points each to lead Conquerors (1-3) to their first victory of the season in a consolation semifinal game.
Steve Lawman scored 12 points and Tom Ludeman added 11 for Southern California Christian (0-4).
In nonleague games:
Ocean View 68, Serra 67--Doug Rice’s twisting layup with four seconds left lifted the Seahawks (5-0) past the Cavaliers (2-3) at Gardena. Ocean View’s Ricky Butler had 20 points to lead all scorers and teammate Desi Hazely added 13.
University 70, Bishop Amat 67--The Trojans overcame a 36-25 halftime deficit to improve their record to 5-0 at University.
University outscored the Lancers (1-1), 22-10, in the third quarter behind the play of forward Steve Stolzoff, who scored a game-high 19 points. Teammates Eric Olin and Lasse Glassen added 13 points each.
Garden Grove 61, Anaheim 33--The Argonauts (3-2) outscored the Colonists (0-3), 32-10, in the second half to win at Anaheim.
Garden Grove’s Octavio Contreras led all scorers with 18 points, and teammate Chad Finch had 12.
Los Alamitos 72, Fullerton 67--Guard Ryan Blossey scored 21 points and center Mo Warner added 20 to lead the Griffins. Fullerton’s Greg Wilbur had 28 to lead all scorers.
Troy 59, Esperanza 47--Todd Rudometkin scored 16 points and Jeff Ferren added 14 to lead the Warriors (2-2) at Troy. Esperanza (1-3) was led by Tim Harvey and Mike Nay, who each had 17 points.
Valencia 70, Glenn 46--Senior forward Dennis Burbank scored 24 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Tigers (5-1). Forward Jeff Franck had 12 points and 13 rebounds for Valencia. Jimbo Hernandez scored 26 points for Glenn.
Corona del Mar 83, Costa Mesa 44--Thirteen players scored for the Sea Kings (5-1) in the easy victory over the Mustangs.
