Two men suspected of robbing a Huntington Beach bank Friday morning were arrested when police traced their auto license to an El Monte address, officers said Saturday.
William O’Rourke, 30, of El Monte allegedly entered the First Interstate Bank on Edinger Avenue just before noon, handed a note to a teller demanding money and then fled with $800 in cash, Officer Patrick Gildea said. He then ran to a waiting car, allegedly driven by Glenn Filkins, 28, and was seen speeding away, Gildea said. Witnesses spotted the car heading south on the San Diego Freeway and took down the license plate.
Police arrested the two men at 5 p.m. when they arrived at the residence. Both suspects were booked on suspicion of armed robbery and a parole violation hold was also placed on them, Gildea added.
