A 29-year-old man was shot in the face Monday, while sitting in his car, in what police believe was a gang-related incident.
The victim was being treated at UC San Diego Medical Center for a wound caused by a bullet that struck him in the jaw and exited at the back of the neck. He was reported in fair contion.
The victim was parked in the 2200 block of K Street about 2 a.m. waiting for a passenger who had left the car and gone behind some bushes, Sgt. Michael D. Hentigan said.
The bullet that struck the victim was among several fired from a white car with a black top that drove past. The victim’s car was struck by some bullets, Hentigan said. The passenger, who was behind the bushes, was not wounded.
