Aussie Has a Beef With Spouse: Meals Leave Him Cold

SYDNEY, Australia — A Sydney lawyer, charged with assaulting his wife for serving only vegetarian food, told a court today that he might continue to beat her until she gives him a square meal.
He had lost his temper on a day that began with a breakfast of carrot juice and ended with no dinner prepared for him, he said.
“This has gone on for at least six years,” Robert Lindsay Walker, 45, said in a written statement.
“My request for substantial food is ignored. I admit I hit my wife and I believe it will continue.”
Magistrate Roger Davey found the case proved but did not convict Walker, who had pleaded guilty.
He was released on a 12-month good behavior bond and told not to beat his wife.
