Charles W. Thomson has been named vice president, human resources at Flying Tiger Line, the Los Angeles air cargo carrier.
Thomson has spent 16 years in the airline industry. He was previously vice president, human resources and general counsel at Denver-based Frontier Airlines from 1985 until it ceased operations in August. Before that, he was director of industrial relations at United Air Lines, which is based in Chicago.
The position he is filling at Flying Tigers, a unit of Tiger International, has been vacant since 1983. Flying Tigers, which has recently won large wage concessions from its major employee groups, said it decided to fill the job to show its “commitment” to working with its 6,500 employees.
