3rd Lotto Jackpot Winner Can Claim $8.8-Million Prize

California’s Lotto 6/49 has produced its third millionaire in two months--someone who picked six out of six numbers on a ticket purchased at a San Diego liquor store can claim an $8.88-million prize, a state lottery spokesman announced Sunday.

The jackpot winner’s identity will probably be revealed today, once the lucky ticket holder steps forward to claim the prize, lottery spokesman Jim Hamblin said. It is the third biggest prize since the start of the Lotto game in October.

A computer analysis also showed that another ticket holder, who purchased a ticket with five correct numbers plus the bonus number at a 7-Eleven store in San Leandro, has won $954,745.

There were 92 people who picked five out of six correct numbers for $5,346 in winnings each. A total of 7,735 picked four correct numbers to win $57 each and 177,291 picked three correct numbers to win $5 each.

Nearly 9 million tickets were sold last week, Hamblin said. And, since there was no jackpot winner the previous week, $3.1 million was rolled into this week’s jackpot, he said.
