Police Book 22 Men in Hollywood Vice Sweep
- Share via
Three women police officers posing as prostitutes helped arrest 22 men in Hollywood over the weekend on charges of solicitation of prostitution or lewd conduct.
The sweep, conducted Friday night through Saturday morning at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Alexandria Avenue, was the culmination of a five-month investigation by the vice unit of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Division. That effort already has led to the arrest of more than 200 women on prostitution charges, a police spokesman said Saturday.
The operation was in response to long-standing complaints from area merchants and residents, the spokesman said. Three of the men were booked at downtown police headquarters. The rest were cited and released on their own recognizance, pending court hearings.
