KALAPANA, Hawaii — An evacuation order was lifted today for this seaside village where lava from Kilauea Volcano destroyed 17 homes in three days, but only residents were being allowed back, authorities said. The flow of molten rock from the mountain, which has claimed a total of 28 houses, slowed to a virtual stop over the weekend and began to cool. (Story, Page 17)
